Meet The Team
Chief Pilot
Darren Davis
Darren is the co-owner and Chief Pilot at Tiger Flights. Darren is a professional pilot with over 30 years aviation experience. He's enjoyed a varied career flying a host of different aircraft with thousands of flying hours. As a former captain, Darren flew for several UK airlines before moving into the world of corporate aviation, flying privately chartered business jets. Darren has a particular interest in vintage aviation having flown a number of classics and is an active and enthusiastic instructor on the Tiger Moth. From the get go, Darren fell in love with G-EMSY. We're not worried about it. Yet.
Head of Training
James Arnott
James has always been fascinated with aviation (his grandfather flew Tiger Moths so it was inevitable). Learning to fly on the Scottish Aviation Bulldog with his University Air Squadron, James became a flying instructor in 2003. His first airline job followed in 2006. Now a captain for a well known airline, James has in excess of 11,000 flying hours. James started flying and instructing on Tiger Moths in 2014. Having flown various historic aeroplanes for several TV programmes, James also works as the technical advisor for the Warbird Workshop series on the Yesterday Channel and the Warplane Workshop series on Channel 4. James has recently been training for his Display Authorisation to enable him to display his own Warbird, a 1941 Naval Aircraft Factory N3N-3 which he owns with two friends, and other aeroplanes at airshows across the country.
Ground Crew
Dave Burns
Dave has been an aviation fan as long as he can remember. He was an air cadet in the dim and distant past but his career took him in a different direction. Now as co-owner of Tiger Flights he is reliving his boyhood dream. You'll see Dave pottering around the hangar keeping things in order on the day of your flight experience. Along with Chief Pilot Darren, Dave will assist during the all important pre-flight briefings and help you in and out of the aircraft (slightly less glamourous cabin crew you could say). He takes much joy in being hands on and starting the engine safely before each flight. Dave takes even greater joy in ensuring everyone has a fantastic experience with Tiger Flights. Like Darren, he is slightly obsessed with the aircraft but if either of them start muttering around them and calling them 'my precious' we might have a problem on our hands.
Captain
Razzle
Part Border Terrier, part kangaroo, Captain Razzle will jump ridiculously high for her small stature to exchange sloppy kisses for much love and attention. She'll do this before and after your flight experience (and during if she could get away with it). Captain Razzle loves nothing more than chasing her ball around the empty hangar. As Captain she keeps First Officer Finn in line.
First Officer
Finn
First Officer Finn likes to think he is in charge of security at Tiger Flights but will more than likely run away as soon as you look at him. You might mistake First Officer Finn for a fluffy cushion as he indulges in his favourite activity (snoozing) on the hangar sofas. Captain Razzle may need to refer First Officer Finn to Head of Training James as no one seems to have told him he's facing the wrong way.
